Throwback Stories: A Time For Everything

Okay, so this one isn’t exactly an old story; matter of fact, it’s still a WIP…but look at all these failed starts:

These top three yellow pages are the first three failed starts. After that, it gets kind of…”Uh, so which one was next?”

Honestly, when I first started this series, it wasn’t even a series. It was one story. A really, really, sappy story that had more focus on the romance.

Nowadays, while the war will still be mainly a backdrop for the story and there’ll still be romance (albeit less sappy), I plan on this being an actual war drama…when I get back to writing it.

For now, this is how it currently starts and yes, I did add a little to it before adding it to this post:

Meg Barnes had never been separated from her husband before without having an idea of how long he would be gone.

Fort Sumter changed everything.

She sat in the rocking chair in the corner of the room while she watched her husband get ready to leave, hands resting over her growing abdomen. If time could be manipulated so that Stephen could be here when their child was born, she would do it in a heartbeat.

And there you have it! The first scribblings of my Civil War series, A Time For Everything.

  1. Those aren’t failed starts! As Thomas Edison said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” 🙂
