Fairy Tale Blog Tag!

And here we have the Fairy Tale Blog Tag, brought to you by the lovely gals over at Fairy Tale Central!

If you haven’t checked out their blog yet, DO IT. They do ALLLLLLL things fairytale related – reviews, spotlights for retellings, and the like every month for a certain fairytale, and usually, Arielle will post a prompt and they’ll invite people to join in on that!

There won’t be one this month though because for February, they’re doing ALL THE FAIRYTALES! Buuuut people will probably still be doing that anyway, since they’re, ya know, inviting folks to join in on the fun!

Anyway…on to the blog tag!

What’s an obscure fairy tale you love?

If you got to choose Disney’s next animated princess movie, what fairy tale would you choose to be adapted?

Joringel & Jorinde by the Brothers Grimm.

What is the first fairy tale you remember hearing when you were a child?

I don’t know. I probably learned of them through Disney first though.

If you were to embark on a fairy tale quest, what necessities would you pack in your bag?

Food, clothes, a map, books, notebooks, pens, a camera…

What’s your favorite fairy tale trope?

Being a romantic, I must say True Love’s Kiss. *instantly has song from Disney’s Enchanted play in head*

If you could be any fairy tale character archetype (the princess, the soldier, fairy godmother, talking animal, mischievous imp, wise old woman, evil stepmother/sister, etc.), who would you want to be and why?

…the child in me says princess.

What animal/mythical creature would be your sidekick for fairy tale adventures?

My cat Gandalf.

What is your favorite historical era, and what fairy tale would you love to see in that setting?

I’m a bit fond of the Victorian Era, ideas of romance and those big, poofy ballgowns are to blame. xD

I think I’d like to see Joringel & Jorinde in that setting.

If you could change a fairy tale’s villain into a hero, who would you choose and why?

I don’t know.

Do you prefer fairy tales with happy endings or sad/tragic endings? why or why not?

Alrighty, so there’s my answers to the blog tag.

  1. So glad you joined in the fairy tale blog tag!

    Aww true’s love kiss FTW!

Okay, Gandalf is such a great name for a cat!

The Victorian Era is such an iconic era! Definitely a great choice for a fairy tale retelling.

  2. Thank you so much for joining in the tag! I loved reading your answers. And YESSS to Jorinde and Joringel being the next Disney movie! I’ll probably answer the same when I do this tag because WE NEEDS IT. It’d make such a gorgeous movie!

    1. With George Fenton as the composer! I’m listening to the Ever After soundtrack and Disney MUST hire him at some point even if they never do J&J! Also, if they did do it, they should start it with a storybook opening, like they did with Snow White and Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty! And have the pictures at the beginning and end of the book be in an old-style of painting, like romanticism or impressionism. (Maybe if they mimicked Monet…that would look very lovely!)

Another note: if they do this (a very big IF at that!) and don’t get George Fenton, then I’d hope for either Patrick Doyle (the Cinderella 2015 soundtrack is BOMB) or James Newton Howard (Treasure Planet, anyone?).

Annnnd I would hope for the directing team to be either John Clements and Ron Musker (Treasure Planet, Hercules, Little Mermaid + a few others) or Nathan Greno and Byron Howard (Tangled)

Yikes, I’m really planning this out, aren’t I? xD

  3. Jorinda and Joringel WOULD make a nice Disney movie. Darn it, now I want that. I’d like it to be set in 15th century Germany, though. I like those poofy Renaissance gowns. And I know they already had a setting inspired by Renaissance Germany with Snow White, but those dresses weren’t quite as poofy as they could have been. So I guess I want a more historically accurate Renaissance Germany, which I know Disney will never give me in a million years?
