KNOW THE NOVEL: They Are Not Finished…

(Part 1) (Part 2)

Well, it’s the final part of Christine Smith’s Know The Novel linkup, and…my stories are not finished.

BUT.

The good news is that I finally got around to starting on the edits for Arrows. Draft 2 is alive and kicking. Sort of; I’ve had to stop and outline it.

The Woodsman, not so much…

And Gunnar & Mette ran off and is probably hiding in one of the dwarven caverns…

Moving on.

1. Firstly, how did writing this novel go all around?

Ah…ha ha…this month has been a busy one, so I didn’t get a lot done. I did get some of The Woodsman written, started an outline for the second draft of Arrows (which is now being placed into a notebook because I ended up shifting things and I really don’t want to re-do all those index cards…) and ended up with a spinoff for Arrows. I also decided to split Arrows into two volumes because MAN, it has blown up like crazy! I think the second draft might end up being much, much longer than the one I wrote back in April.

2. Did it turn out like you expected or completely different? And how do you feel about the outcome?

Though they’re not finished, Arrows and The Woodsman garnered a massive amount of new directions, in addition to how different they’ve already become from the original ideas. TW has also semi-returned to its roots as a mystery story…

3. What aspect of the story did you love writing about the most? (Characters, plot, setting, prose, etc.)

✨ C H A R A C T E R D E V E L O P M E N T ✨

Well, getting started on it, at least.

4. How about your least favorite part?

Maybe the fact that The Woodsman needs some serious straightening out so that everything runs smoothly…

And I haven’t reached it yet, but there will be a scene later on in Arrows that will be difficult to write.

5. What do you feel like needs the most work?

Description. Always description.

6. How do you feel about your characters now? Who’s your favorite? Least favorite? Anyone surprise you? Give us all the details!

Still love them!

7. What’s your next plan of action with this novel?

For Arrows, it’s getting the second draft done; for The Woodsman it’s getting the second draft done and with an editor. Though, could it really be called a second draft since it’s a different-ish plot than last year?

8. If you could have your greatest dream realized for this novel, what would it be?

Publication.

9. Share some of your favorite snippets!

If you know, you know πŸ˜‰
Flirting does not come easily to Jonathan xD

10. Did you glean any new writing and/or life lessons from writing this novel?

Hmm…

Welp, that’s it. Know The Novel is so much fun, and Christine is such a fun, encouraging person to talk to!

How was your novel-ing, fellow writers?
